I'm Jenny Logullo, a creative writer + career coach living in LA with her spaniel (Bruno) and husband, Tad. I’ve always had a knack for self-help work and helping colleagues of mine tell their career story, so that they could land a gig that offers
competitive pay + kick-ass perks.
When it came down to the job hustle in LA, I was set on finding an employer in the marketing space who valued ME! I wanted to work for an employer where I could grow professionally + be part of meaningful work.
Often times, first-gen college graduates struggle with finding their voice and confidence in the corporate world, and it can be overwhelming and alienating...
Born and raised in Chicago, Jenny was raised in Edgewater by a single mom in an a low-income household with three other siblings.
In 2012, she was the recipient of the I-Promise Award—a scholarship awarded to high-achieving low-income students— to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2016, she graduated with a B.A. in Creative Writing.
Shortly after graduating, Jenny moved to Los Angeles (where she now resides) to start a life with her husband and to launch her career as a marketing writer. She worked long hours, received passive-aggressive behavior from upper management, and quickly realized the “anything for the sale” mentality will quickly ruin your mental health...
She'd drive home and stress cry, and not remember the commute back home.... She second-guessed her talent. She didn’t know her worth…..
.
That’s around the time, Jenny began to do more research on employers, apply her writing skills to land a higher paying position and get deep with her values in life. Jenny realized how toxic, overworked, and underpaid the environment was for many career-goers around her, too.
She worked on many job applications and talked to a whole lot of recruiters. She began to understand the job hunting space, the competitive nature and factors that come to play, and realized a unique framework to get herself a job that would offer her satisfaction.
Today, Jenny works full-time for a renowned health plan in Burbank as a Communications Consultant. She started Minimalist Junkie, LLC in September 2019.
Jenny’s biracial identity and complex relationship with her money led to two massive breakthroughs: (1) it’s expensive to live in poverty, and (2) once you’ve gathered some resources to become afloat—lack of benefit + financial literacy will doom your progress.
